Let's Go Camping!

This is what I said to Chase this weekend....so he packed up the car and got us all ready to go. We drove down to Swan Falls and found an empty, sandy spot right along the river. We excitedly got out our poles and started fishing....after about half an hour or so I was tired of all my fish 'bites' being moss. So I gave up and got out a chair to put in the water.... I was just going to tan and watch Chase try to get something other than moss. BUT after about a half hour of that, I started to rethink the whole 'camping' thing. It was way way too hot...and I could already smell our stink from the sun and river, not to mention everywhere was a really fine sand.....that was going to get into everything. So I sat there wondering how I could talk Chase into going home without looking like I was trying to back out of my wonderful idea to camp....lucky for me I had a few hours of sitting to think this over before he gave up fishing too (he was only catching little fishies that wouldn't feed us for dinner). When he got back to me, we got into the water (only about knee deep) to try and cool off from the sun.....then we set up our chairs in the little spot of shade we had from the car and looked at our watches.....we still had quite a while before the sun would go down and take with it some of the aweful heat. So, with no great way of saying it, asked Chase if he was ready to go home. He was kinda thinking the same thing as me, and since I was the first one to say it I guess it made it ok. We decided we'd hurry and build a fire (even tho it was still high 90's) and cook our hotdogs and marshmallows we brought for dinner. Then we got our chairs and fishing poles back in the car and made it home in time for a movie. It turned out to be a pretty fun afternoon anyhow..... Maybe our next attemp at camping will result in an over-nighter!!

Here's a cool little lizard that was sharing our 'campsite' with us....

Free Rider

So....after going thru blogs this morning (my morning ritual at work) and being dissapointed that no one has blogged two days in a row, I realized that it's been over a week since I have done anything!! How can I expect others to blog daily if I don't update my own, right!?!

The only problem is that I don't have anything exciting to blog about! Chase is in Declo driving tractor to get some extra cash until he finds a more 'permanent' job, leaving me in Boise all alone. I've actually managed to keep myself pretty busy this first 'week without Chase' but so far I haven't done anything worthy of blogging... so I decided I would share with you my obsession right now.

My brother introduced me to this awesome game online that has now filled all my down time at work... it is Free Rider 2. (I have a link to it on the side of my blog) Now before you think I am lame... you have to give it a shot, it's so much more than I thought it would be! You can make your own tracks or use GooGle to find and ride some really sweet tracks that others (I'm assuming they are all 14 year old boys) have made. But if you need something to keep you busy for a while...like at a desk job like me, it is pretty fun! (if you need some guidance, let me know and I'd be happy to explain better....my brother had to help me get going) Haha, I sound like a video game junkie! Anyways...here's a sweet video of the top dogs of Free Rider:

(sorry....I've tried all morning to figure this dang thing out, but I am giving up for now....I don't know how to save a youtube video directly to this post so it'll just play....SO you'll just have to click on the link if you want to see it!)

Mexico City

Last week we got to go to Mexico City with Chase's parents for his graduation present. What an awesome present....I was so happy I got in on it too! What a crazy place Mexico City is! I have never really experienced life outside our country...or my comfort zone. It was so neat to see another side of Chase and to get a little taste of what he expierenced for two years....literally, I must have got some bug because my stomach and GI tract have been messed up (just like his was)! It was also so neat to be able to meet some of the people that he taught and befriended. Here's a quick run down of our time in Mexico:

  • FRIDAY (23rd) was our travel day down there and first night adjusting!
  • SATURDAY (24th) was our shopping and downtown day! Jacki & I had so much fun going to all the stands & shops. My favorite was the jewerly store when the lady brought out three cases FULL of silver rings...oh! I was in heaven! Then we went to the 'square' downtown and saw the different buildings there.
  • SUNDAY (25th) we went to the temple and visitor's center and then to our first Spanish Ward Conference! We got to meet some members that Chase knew and then went to one guy's house (I can't remember his name....) He was so excited to see Chase, they had a lot of fun together...and he had a lot of fun showing us around where he lived! Then, we went to Miguel & Dulce's house where we had a great afternoon cooking, eating, and making flowers!
  • MONDAY (26th) we went out to the pyramids. They were way cool. I can't believe how big and how many there were!
  • TUESDAY (27th) we went to Mexico's 'Central Park'. It was way cool.... a free zoo that was awesome! A castle. And a few lakes with paddle boats. Then we went back out to Dulce's house and Chase baptized their little girl, Fernanda, who just turned 8. It was so neat to be able to be there for that.
  • WEDNESDAY (28th) we took a 3 hour bus ride to Valle de Bravo, where one of Chase's friends, Erica, lives. It was such a neat change from the busy city. It was a very cute, smaller town with beautiful waterfalls and a huge lake.
  • THURSDAY (29th) we meet a cool guy by the mexican statue of liberty that took us for a tour to a silver store and then to a canal system where we got to ride in a boat pushed along by a guy with a huge stick! It was alot of fun!
  • FRIDAY (30th) we ran back downtown to make our final purchases before we had to pack up and head back to the airport for our trip back home.

I really could go on and on...but I want to make this somewhat 'brief', so I'll just have to tell you all about it the next time I see you!!

Thanks so much Orllo & Jacki, we had so much fun....we love you!!
